What Is Coaching For Teens and Young Adults?

Get support for your teen from someone who get’s it. When you’ve tried the cookie cutter, mainsteam supports and now you are looking for someone who can coach and celebrate your young person on the level they need.

Being AuDHD and a big kid myself, I connect easily with neurodivergent youth and can talk about those elements of being neurodivegent that therapists can’t explain from a textbook.

I use body mind practices to strengthen neural pathways in the brain such as coaching, NLP, heart coherence, visualisation, tapping, along with practical solutions-focussed strategies and education so they can step up and totally own their wonderful neuro-divergent nature.

I can help with:

Building confidence and self-esteem.

Making sense of who they are and how they fit into the world.

Managing huge, overwhelming emotions and anxiety.

Creating healthy friendships and relationships.

Navigating the diagnoses (formal or informal) of ADHD & Autism and want support from someone who’s been there and lives the same life.

Helping your youth to feel comfortable with their neurodivergence and celebrate themselves.

Feeling lost and unsure about the direction of their life and are ready to become clear-headed, purpose-driven and able to achieve a goal.

And so much more…

What are Emotional Regulation Skills Sessions For 7-14yr olds?

When I work with your young person, the magic happens under the surface!

While we learn Tapping in a fun, easy way, the neural pathways in their brain are rewired to calm their body & nervous system.

I help them to understand that ALL emotions (even the “bad” ones) are actually there to help them.

I help your child to make friends with their emotions and see themselves in a whole, new, more self-affirming light.

This results in your young person mastering life-changing, practical tools that will equip them to stay emotionally resilient in the face of school or friendship issues, exam and performance pressures, or anything life throws at them.

They will discover an emotional support tool-kit to carry them thriving into adulthood staying emotionally strong no matter what.

What Happens In Coaching For Parents?

As well as being a certified coach and youth mentor, I also understand what it’s like to raise a neurodivergent child myself. You can read more about me here.

So I get it, I get the daily struggles, I get the judgment from others, the lack of understanding, the crazy emotions, all of it!

In fact it was my own neurodivergence journey that led me to do this work, after being so disappointed at the support I recieved when my eldest was diagnosed, and spending much of my time thinking “Wtf? I’m not cut out for this!”

When we work together, I help you to build a strong foundation of parenting skills, knowledge and wisdom in a simple, easy to remember framework.

This framework gives you everything you need to successfully connect with, and support your neurodivergent child, so you can build a closeness with them even when they’ve yelled at you that you don’t understand them.

As well as this transformative framework, we can release triggers, limiting beliefs, doubts and fears around your parenting and your child.

Depending on what you need, I can also offer strategies for specific parenting challenges, languaging to connect and how to repair relationships.

You’ll feel confident in how to talk to and connect with your child.

You’ll understand yourself better so you can rise above the emotion and not get dragged into it.

You’ll be able to see the gifts your child holds instead of just challenges, and actually love your parenting journey.

What is Tapping?

Tapping, also known as EFT, Emotional Freedom Techniques or Meridian Therapy, is a method of accessing the parts of your brain that perceive threat and reprogram you to realise that there is no threat.

Tapping is an approved self-help modality by the American Psychologists Association with doctors and psychologists around the world now choosing to study it.

Tapping lowers cortisol levels by up to 40%, which reduces your tween/teens visible stress and anxiety by calming your nervous system and brain, and also has the added benefit of boosting positive antigens and antibodies that improve the overall well-being of their body.

Why Should My Child Tap?

The physical and emotional benefits to Tapping are huge and it is an incredibly flexible tool that can be modified in many ways to benefit people of all ages and abilities.  Kids, teens and indeed some adults, often have no idea why they feel upset, or stressed, and yet Tapping will still reach the issue and allow it to calm and release.

Some of this may happen consciously, but a lot of it happens at an unconscious level.

One of the great things about Tapping is there is always some release in every session, even if you are not consciously aware of it.

So Tapping for a younger person allows the release of an issue to happen is a gentle, natural way, sometimes without their awareness, it “just feels good” to them.

Other Self-Regulation Methods Haven’t Worked – Why Would Tapping Be Any Different?

Tapping can be modified for kids who have trouble communicating, it can be modified for people with physical differences, it can be used with resistant kids while they sleep, or as a stim or kids who need help regulating.

Teenagers that just feel angry and don’t want to talk to anyone can use this powerful tool to calm themselves in private without having to talk to anyone, which is also useful for anyone who has trouble expressing themselves.

Tapping is a great self-help tool for ADHD and ASD and can reduce the severity of meltdowns in kids and adults.

It can also be a great tool to connect with your young person, the magic of Tapping happens in your energy, and they intuitively know what a gift Tapping is, so parent included sessions can help create a powerful bond.

It fills a gap that traditional counselling or talk therapy misses, and allows a lot of emotion to be released and issues to be resolved in a simple, healthy way.

An adult may spend years in therapy with no real results, and yet the same issues can be cleared in a few weeks with Tapping.

Tapping can also be easily learned and practiced at home, with no need to always spend money and time with a practitioner.

It is the ultimate self-soothing, self help tool for every body.

Tapping can successfully help your tween/teen with many issues, some of which I have listed below, but this list is by no means exhaustive.

What else do you do?

Tapping and NLP coaching form the base of my work with youth and get incredible results, however I also teach a number of age appropriate practical coaching strategies and other body-mind techniques that are all scientifically researched and reduce stress and anxiety. Everything I teach has been put into practice by myself and my own kids, and easily fits into a busy day, because I know you haven’t got time to sit on a mountain and mediate for 2 hours. I am fully qualified in everything that I teach.

Why don’t you offer after school or weekend appointments?

I used to, and the reality is that people, kids, teens, even the cat, are just “done” after a day of concentrating and keeping it together and their ability to concentrate and take in new information is greatly reduced.

So my appointments are between 9.15am and 2.15pm so that your young person will be more receptive to new ideas and more capacity for learning new strategies.

Although I’m not a mainstream therapist, it’s best to treat sessions with me as another one of your therapists, and take the time out of your day, to get the most out of your money and your time.

I’m also a mama bear who values my family time.

How and where do you work?

All appointments are now online, regardless of location.

I use Zoom for my sessions and will be zooming you from Melbourne, Australia.
